Responses and Objections

Letters to Publius

The papers are published for judgment, not applause. Readers who find an argument doubtful, incomplete, mistaken, or in need of sharper proof are invited to answer it.

A useful letter should name the paper it addresses, quote or summarize the claim in question, and state the objection plainly. Agreement is welcome, but disagreement is the better test of an argument honestly made.

Letters may be sent to letters@theindependentjournal.org. Selected letters may be answered or published by The Independent Journal, with the writer's permission.

Abuse, slogans, and anonymous accusations will not be answered. Serious criticism will be read with care.
